You know Doug Fieger!

You know! "My Sharona"?

The Knack?

Oh! Sure!

While Geoffrey, Doug's older brother by one year, was graduating from the Detroit College of Law, Doug was making rock and roll history.   'Get The Knack' had one of the biggest commercial debuts in rock history.   It went gold in 13 days, platinum in seven weeks and sold six million copies worldwide.

Some would say his adventure started when Doug was three or four and saw his first movie.   From that moment on, the stage was his goal.   At twelve he acted professionally and staged Edward Albee plays while a teenager.   While in Detroit he headed a rock and roll bank called Sky, and became popular locally.   In 1971 he headed to L.A.. The Knack, was born seven years later, in May of 1978.   There they played the Troubadour and Starwood and performed with the likes of Ray Manzarek, Eddie Money, Tom Petty, Steven Stills, and Bruce Springsteen.   Doug and Knack have been around nearly twenty years, and in 1998 released the album 'Zoom'.

For the future, I understand Doug and the boys are working on a new album and there might even be a tour in the offing!

  News, Appearances and Performances

Update from Doug - 1/27/01:
The Knack did their first recording session in Doug's new home studio this week, they are about to finish 3 more tunes for a new studio album on Monday.  They won't be mixed until later, but have 7 songs in the can.   Doug is also beginning to compile the new "rarities" album.
The Knack will perform at the The Little River Rockfest
in Minnedosa, Manitoba Canada on August 5th!

Doug performed "One Night" and "Love Me" at the
Annual Elvis Birthday Spectacular
at the House of Blues on January 8.

There are many Knack concert dates being planned for 2001, more than in 2000, and there is also a Knack "rarities set" that will be released in 2001.

This is going to be a GREAT year!

Year 2000 News

* Starting in October 2000, Taco Bell began running a series of TV commercials featuring a very familiar Knack song to the tune of "My Chalupa".

* Doug also joins with Jeffrey Foskett on his new CD Twelve and Twelve. Doug is paired with Jeffrey on the track "Baby It's You, "which was written by Doug, Jeffrey, and Ivy Berg.

* Doug has also produced a CD for the L.A. based band, "Mysterypop" (formerly Spanish Kitchen). Their songs, as described by their guitarist, Willie Aron, "have a sweet and sour quality." Doug also sings some backup, and plays tambourine.
